Botanical LiManGe Perfume

As always, the ingredients are of the highest quality and are all natural: jojoba oil, lemon, petitgrain, mandarin, jasmine and incense pure essential oils.

The packaging is also environmentally friendly and lovely to look at. We have chosen a glass jar with a wooden lid and the label is made from recycled paper. As well as the perfume, you will receive natural handprinted cotton bag and a card with a painting of a bird and which tells the story of our perfume.

The lightness of citrus fruits (lemon and mandarin), combine with the freshness of the petitgrain and the sensuality of jasmine. The incense essence adds depth and inspiration. This takes you on a flight towards wellbeing, with a hint of the Mediterranean and evocations of the east.

Why “botanical perfume”?

Maybe not everybody knows that botanical perfumery is very different from classical perfumery.

Botanical perfumery is faithful to the ancient art of creating perfumes using pure essential oils and plant extracts without the addition of any synthetic products. It is thus a completely natural perfume which respects the vitality, intrinsic properties, energies and vibrations of the plants used.

Above all, botanical perfumery is an instrument that can aid mental and physical wellbeing, based on an ethic that cares about the environment and the naturalness of the raw materials (many perfumes today can be so persistent and invasive that they give lots of people headaches).

Creating a perfume is a bit like telling a story, re-evoking emotions that are connected to a fleeting moment but at the same time are so intense they are indelibly etched onto our memory. This precious extract of flowers, fruits and resins are the soul of the plants and the memory of a magical encounter.

We were with Elena at the Selva at sunset, sitting on one of the decks where the citrus trees are a strong presence. These ancient trees have known many families before ours in a constant exchange of care and proffered gifts.

It was that time of day when the light is tinged with red and dark pink and the sun’s rays come slanting down in a fascinating play of light and shade.

Everything at that moment seemed like an invitation to reach those mature fruits, to gather them and to sink into their sweet perfume with closed eyes.

Seated in the golden grass with the lemons and mandarins in our laps, we looked out at the Positano sea and imagined we could see before us caravans and sail ships ploughing the ancient incense route: 2400 kilometres, a six-month journey covering mountains, deserts and seas, a route where numerous cultures and religions came into contact with one another.

We talked about the extraction of resin and how it was turned into incense in the city of Sumhurum, in the ancient sultanate of Oman. Legend has it that the Queen of Saba lived in that city and it was where incense was sent to the Mediterranean.

While the memories and stories flowed, we watched an elderly woman coming towards us from a distance. She had a basket full of flowers at her hip. Her eyes were sparkling and full of life.

We went up to meet her, attracted by her precious wares: small jasmine flowers, white and delicate with an intensely sensual and feminine perfume. Those flowers recalled both the complicity between women in that moment and the memory of distant places and cultures.

It was right then that we looked each other in the eye and decided to seal that story and tell it with a perfume, a citrus flight called Limange.
